Class 201: Beginner's Block Bonanza
If you're a novice or new quilter, this is the class for you. You'll learn rotary cutting and sewing basics for a beautiful batch of blocks that you can use to make a lap-size quilt or smaller wall hangings, placemats, or table toppers. Each block is designed to help you build your skills and learn about color and value. Bring your machine to our ergonomically equipped classroom and sew with other beginners as you learn together from Susan Petry, one of our talented teachers. We'll offer an optional class as a follow-up to show you how to use your blocks in a quilt or other project.

Dates/Times:

7:00-9:00pm on 6 consecutive Wednesdays Or
10:00-12:00 6 consecutive Saturdays

Classes begin the week of October 6th (first class either October 8th or 11th)

Cost:

$100, including all printed instructional patterns

Supplies:

Purchase tools and fabrics for your blocks at a 10% discount.

Class 202: Machine Quilting for Beginners
Learn the ups and downs and ins and outs of setting up your machine for quilting, what threads to use, and how to free-motion stitch following simple quilting designs. Even if you've been quilting for a while, you're bound to pick up some tricks and easy techniques with help from our skilled quilting teacher, Debbie Snow.

Dates/Times:

9:00 to 3:00, Saturday, October 18, 2003 (with a one-hour lunch break)

Cost:

$75, including a practice kit with fabric, muslin, and batting, plus thread, specially priced just for this class.

Machine Quilting by Maurine Noble; available to registered students at a special price.

Class 203: Color for Quilters
If you are baffled or overwhelmed with color choices for your quilts, you won't want to miss this exciting series taught by shopowner, Meg Branch. She'll share her tried-and-true color recipes for creating visually exciting quilts. This is a class for any quilter who considers herself a "confident beginner" or beyond. See some of Meg's award-winning quilts and develop several color palettes that will help guide your fabric selections so every quilt is a smashing success.

6 Wednesdays, beginning October 15th, ending November 19th

$100, including fabric kits for class notebook

Class 204: So, You're Ready to Quilt the Borders
Local quilt and wearables designer, Barbara Weiland of Jo-Lydia's Attic, will share her trade secrets for choosing a border design, planning the placement, and sizing it to fit your quilt borders-all four of them-to perfection.

Dates/Times:

Saturday, October 4, 9:00AM to Noon

Cost:

$35, including fabric, batting, and special supplies to make sample a sample in class. Bring your machine, plus thread and basic sewing kit.

Class 205: Beautiful Bindings
There's more to binding than meets the eye. Come learn the why, when, and how of several different binding styles and methods so you can choose wisely for your next quilt or garment. This is a lecture-demonstration class with step-by-step samples for you to examine. Another great class taught by Barbara Weiland.
